Local Expertise Makes the Difference
Project Management | Market Profile
Though Russian operators are now implementing a similar technological approach to the one seen earlier in developed Western and Asian markets, they still apply unique business models, preventing vendors from simply replicating the same solutions across markets.
In June's issue of Vanilla Plus, Pavel Hardak, Technical Director for CIS & Russia, analyzed the challenges and opportunities facing the local market. To address these opportunities, TTI Telecom has identified local expertise as a key distinguishing factor for business success. As part of the local effort, TTI Telecom acquired Telesens earlier this year in order to enhance our local service. Targeting several operator tier levels, we’ve partnered with eight regional System Integrators, all of which have vast OSS experience. Following these local efforts, TTI Telecom will attend Infocom Russia this coming October. The conference is attracting key players in the CIS telecom market, and will provide an excellent opportunity to develop the Russian OSS arena.

Relaxation Methods for Strained NOCs
Product Management | Tech Spotlight
The TTI Telecom team often discovers that customer network operation centers are needlessly strained. Interestingly, just a few simple techniques can work wonders. Relaxation methods, such as hysteresis and cross-over-time rules, are both excellent methodologies that remedy the problems. Hysteresis enables operators to create an alert buffer zone, so that instead of the system toggling around a designated threshold (creating unnecessary alerts and clear events) - the system will only prompt once while the performance indicator remains within the designated buffer zone (i.e between the original maximum threshold and a lower clear threshold). A cross-over-time rule provides a more sophisticated indicator; it enables the operator to define the number of times the system will toggle around a given threshold before actually triggering the alarm. Once the toggle limit is reached, the system triggers the alert once rather than creating a redundant stream of alerts and clear events. Implementing these relaxation methods significantly reduces triggered alarms, improving operational efficiency and ultimately impacting the bottom line.
(Both of these relaxation methods are included in the latest Netrac TrafficGuard release, part of the Gold version 4.3 package).
